Scavenger Hunt: CLUE #1

I was in the computer lab late last night doing work so I, drew a place that I don't normally think to much about. It was a place that I took for granitte at first, but now I see the real beauty of the lab. The lab is like a family, at least the IARc lab . Everyone communicates with one another, and helps out. Then so many diverse conversations happen in the computer lab like, what are you doing this afternoon, my child did this, this is a lot of work and many others. There are many different people in the Lab with many different personalities, people that can liven up the tense moods in the Lab and people that are there to help you when, you've just lost your final exam. IARc one big family, you've got to love it.

My drawing came from an African inspiration.
Here is a African Herdsmen. I choose Africa because I like the facial profile of it's native people. I really enjoy their personality that is portrayed in their faces.

In this project we were assigned to build a structure inside a window that would control the light coming though in an articulated way, using cardboard and another material if we wanted to. This project was one of the hardest to do, in my second semester so far. Working with cardboard can be difficult and painful. Overall I like my process and my development, this project was a success to me.

For our first project we had select a ritual and then create something that represented our ritual and how we acted it out in our everyday lives. My ritual was using my phone everyday for diverse reasons, like emergencies, family reasons, and to chat with friend every now and again. As apart of my ritual I keep it in my pockets, so I decided to do a cell phone pack that holds my cell phone, and keeps me from dropping it.

For our final exam, IARC-101 had to construct an luminare out of previous materials used in former projects. For my luminare I used paper, and foam core board that were used in previous projects. This project was challenging, our instructor told us it would be. At first I didn't understand why it would be so complicated. When I began working on the project I realized why he said it would be complicated. For me the project was complicated because I had so many ideas, and couldn't narrow them down at first. Then I gave up and let go and then got an idea. I was inspired by the way light travels around things, and creates shadows or silhouette.

In our IARC-101, our final project for this semester included natural and artificial light. We had to explore the different things light did, and the way light looked, or the properties of light. We had to research :

Sunrise, midday, sunset, moonlight, starlight, lamplight , spotlight. lowlight, up/downlight, intensity, contrast, direction, shade, shadow, color.

Dialogue Project:
In this project we had to use Bristol Board and Skewers. We had to create a dialogue between two spaces. This project was a success and challenging to figure out what a space was and what was considered a space.
